hi folks, i've heard the most spectacular and astonishing live act in my life. it was last saturday as the first act of the "szunetjel" <interval signal> festival's second day in budapest @ the theatre called _MU_. the show was like nailing to the seat while huge abstract sounds and noises have fallen from the ceiling in my ears. i had to put some black eye-protector shit on, i thought there would be some irritating stroboscope effects or whatever, it was bloody dark all the time, but i made me concentrate on the "music", which was almost lethal this way. at the begining it felt like standing at the bottom of a big waterfall listening to the noise of the water falling down, but then it became more and more harsh like an engine of a supersonic aircraft, with your ears stuck on it. anyone had the same or similar feeling @ a F.L. show? btw it kicked major ass, i was sort of _system halted_ at the end. :) bias. http://bias.underground.hu xpn-voice-added-contact:/dev/70/312/9708 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Absolutely! Very, very inspirational (and humbling)... the last few times I've seen him it's been under the multi-speaker array, dark-room, blind fold strategy... it really establishes a very different relationship to sound. I've been trying to encourage a similar environment at the shows I'm hosting here in SF (next one, this Friday) ~ it's always a challenge of course to get a performance that's so well constructed. One act that I think is perhaps working at the same level in a different way is the Infrasound collaboration of R.H. Yau and Scott Arford: also very physical, also builds a very real inertia over time...
