Has anyone heard any of the works of Conlon Nancarrow? His works for player piano (you know the pianos with drums of music on metal tape, sometimes called pianolas) are fantastic, often reminiscent of Autechre's rhythms on Confield, some really great stuff. For interested people you can hear a sample here: http://motion.state51.co.uk/reviews/495.html or http://news.mpr.org/features/199710/29_bakera_nancarrow/ Very, very interesting and not in a Stockhausen unlistenable way either. Genuinely pleasant too. But as aforementioned Satie is the closest to the Drukqs piano tracks. cheerio george --- It bleeps. It skronks. Thanks for the link! It's posts like this that make wading through all of the advertisements and discussions of 'most idm xxx' worth it. I'd never heard of this composer, but I listened to the tracks and they sound very cool. I did some searching and found Nancarrow's five volume prepared piano set here: http://www.forcedexposure.com/labels/wergo.germany.html Looks like they also had the works for prepared piano cds that were being discussed earlier on the same page. Well, I'm going to contradict myself but I can't help participating in this one :) Traci Lords (70s/80s porn star) had a short stint as a techno artist, Juno Reactor worked with her on a few tracks. Not exactly IDM but perhaps as close as you'd find in porn. Brandon --- EggyToast <eggy@eggytoast.com> wrote:

Not exactly porn, not exactly idm, but exactly similar, somehow: http://www.bide-et-musique.com/song/1052.html .o0O}seeklektek{O0o. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
