I think, far more than John Cage, the piano bits are very reminiscent of Erik Satie. Not just the obvious Gymnopedies & Gnostiennes, but also his other piano works, ALL of which are worth hunting down! i highly recommend the John Cage collection "In a Landscape," on Catalyst. it's less abstract than most of his repertoire and focuses primarily on prepared (and unprepared) piano. The title track alone is a beauty, along with his tribute to Marcel Duchamp... m.mercer :: design + sound design :: http://www.matthewmercer.com/ sound :: http://www.mattmercer.com/

I actually like Drukqs quite a bit, but really got back into after I found out that those piano pieces were prepared diskclaiver. Damn, I'd like to watch that... Best part of the album IMO. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Try also "Eisoptrophobia" by Akira Rabelais (on MILLE PLATEAUX / RTORNELL) - great experimental re-works of Satie and other composers... [ http://xstreamradio.free.fr ] [ Currently playing: Lusine Icl. - Out-takes ]
