-- Dear All, Please find us Back in the air with edition #4 of this highly entertaining/educating newslist ?!. You might have missed/were not included in the 1st ones... The mailing will give you news on our exclusive labels and their artists and will keep you updated on their new releases, background stories, news flashes, gossip & other things we find worth mentioning. You have been added to this list because: 1) You're a Friend 2) You're a Friend of a Friend 3) You're a Friend of a Friend of a Friend If you regard yourself none of the above or just don't care in general, please let us know. mailing 04 29/05/02 This update is a little later than planned, due yours truly being quite busy as of late. Yes, we truly do need somebody at PR, anybody interested? Really... The labels & artists have been busy too, hope you can handle all the news... Here we go with info on the following labels: Delsin, Emoticon, Hum Hum, Music For Speakers & Rush Hour Recordings and sum shorteez: But first. CONTEST RESULTS FROM LAST MAILING: I guess we were a little hard on you with our last contest. We had quite some entries, but only 2 winners: Greg Clow from Toronto, Canada Alex Bond from Manchester, England Congratulations..keep at it, you might win a car someday.. The correct answers are: What does M>O>S means? Masters Of Sound What does "Parce-que Je Rêve Je Ne Le Suis Pas" mean? Because I dream, I am not On which label does Rednose Distrikt also release? Hum Hum Records (Zephon's Mom sub) Where is Double Helix from & On what compilation CD did they have a track out already? Ypsilanti near Detroit, Planet E's DEMF compilation Where's Abicah Soul from & under which name has he also released music in the past? Chicago, Harmony Funk Congratulations to all, it's coming your way. For our new contest see: HUM HUM section. DELSIN: Out now: [29DSR/DMS2] DIMENSION 5 "DARK CITY" [30DSR/OTN-CD/LP-1] OPTIC NERVE "OPTICAL" Delsin is really keeping us and you busy again. Since last mailing, they have 2 new releases. First off is UK talent Dimension 5 bringing us another 3 unreleased tracks on his Dark City EP, which ranges from nice & deep techno that reminds a little of Insync & BlackDog and all that other superb UK techno from years back. Also just out is the OPtic Nerve album, which is Keith Tucker from Detroit as most of you will know. 10 tracks of classic sounding Detroit techno & electro. Not much changed in the last decade, but still very pleasing to listen to. Keith and crew weer also headlining the much talked about DEMF festival! Feedback, anyone? Upcoming: [31DSR/PSM5] PEEL SEAMUS "ARTEMIS" [33DSR/MOS1] M>O>S feat AROY DEE "ELECTRONIC MUSIC CREATED IN ORDINAIRY BEDROOMS AND OTHER HOUSEHOLD SPACES" Just before label boss Peel Seamus is off to Ibiza he will bring 2 more releases in June. One by himself & one by the M>O>S collective, who made a new for themselves with releases Rush Hour Recordings. Delsin will be back after the summer with a beautiful designed 2nd label compilation CD. Stay tuned. http://www.delsin.org EMOTICON: Out now: [EMOT 008] SCAPE ONE "FUZZY SODA EP" Emoticon hits back with US south coast based producer Kurt Baggaley aka Scape One. He made name for himself with recordings for labels as Mass Transit, World Electric, Satamile & Electrix. Fuzzy Soda shows both his warm & funky as well as his darker, funky electro side. All tracks come with a twisted, experimental touch, which makes it perect as an Emoticon release. Upcoming: [EMOT 009] JEFF SAMUEL "NEW AGE MOLD EP" [EMOT 010] CONNECTIVE ZONE "QWERTY EP" Also Emoticon will still drop two 12"'s before the summer kicks (June) in and makes it to their first 10 releases. Congratulations! After the summer there will be more 12"s off course, Russ Gabriel & Klash Productions both have delivered tracks, and the first label compilation will also become reality soon. www.emoticonrecordings.com HUM HUM: Out now: [HUM HUM 002] REDNOSE DISTRIKT "HOOR'S" 3 Months after the first was released, we can easily say that Rednosedistrikt will be one of the most hyped up bands over the years to come. The first release did very well & is still doing so, it immediately grabbed the attention of people like Jazzanova, Domu, Gilles Peterson etc. This tells you little in which direction the music is they produce. It's got something to do with jazz for sure..but there shit has the most roughest sound/beats to it, you've never heard before. Hip hop mentality in a big way. Now with the 2nd one out, this seem to be even going bigger than the first, for all that haven't heard it yet: Hoor's (Listen up!). Upcoming: "MAKE A MOVE" is a track that has been recorded with Alma Horten when she was in Amsterdam. This will be released on a label called Kindred Spirits. We've got DJ Spinna a the remix job. Word has it that Domu is remixing a track as well. "NY BOOM" will be out soon as well on Rush Hour. HUM HUM CONTEST: WIN more WIN more WIN more: We're giving away 5 copies of the HUM HUM 002. Give us the right answers to the following question: What does "Hoor's" mean (in English) ... Get your dictionairy ready. We can tell you that this is what you need to their music... MUSIC FOR SPEAKERS: Out now: [M4S 13EP] ROOMTONE "MUSIC AGAINST PEOPLE [M4S 14EP] RELAXO ABSTRACTO "INFLATABLE SCREAM [M4S 15EP] SONAR LODGE "INTERIOR BACKGROUNDS" Music For Speakers is back on track with three releases in one. And boy, do they showcase some talent here! First up is Roomtone from lovely Den Bosch, he is a guitarist/tabla-ist & what-not-ist. This is his first EP, which is produced by Sandor Caron & Aardvarck. This brings out contemporary jazz structures & avantgarde beats, one for the headz for sure. It's also Sandor Caron & Aardvarck that team up with David Caron to form Relaxo Abstracto to deliver a very fine 3 track EP, to define new structures in (off) beats (remember their best selling remix of Zwepg Typis by Sandor Caron on Delsin). Finally Sonar Lodge further explores in their self invented Trip Noir sound, best described as dark, organic jazz rhythms and electronic moods or just as "Music For Speakers". This one is their best output to date, we think. Upcoming: [M4S 16CD] V/A "COMPILATION 2" After the summer the collective will be hitting back with their 2nd compilation CD, featuring (unreleased) tracks by present M4S artists as well as some new artists, most notably Harco Pront, who sounds like the eclectism of Beck, mixed in with the soul of D'Angelo and a little Aphex Twin or Aardvarck programming (for real!). For those who think they have missed [M4S 12EP], do not worry it downloadable from their website for free and is fittingly called "Kado". Just check: www.musicforspeakers.com RUSH HOUR RECORDINGS: Out now: [RH 006] M>O>S feat AROY DEE "UTILITIES #2" [RH 007] ROY CORDU "PARCE-QUE JE REVE JE NE LE SUIS PAS PT1" [RH 010] DOUBLE HELIX "FUNXTILES EP" [RH ABS001] ABICAH SOUL PROJECT feat. GLENN UNDERGROUND "CHUCKIE'S TURN" As promised RH recording busy release schedule is becoming reality now. Four releases currently out. From the classic Chicago house & Detroit techno sound of M>O>S, which makes you want to timemachine you back to the early days when you hear it. To the more electronical sound of debuting Roy Cordu, who starts out to sound as the Amsterdam version of Boards of Canada if you will, only his sound and his range of tracks show more diversity, even pleasing some of the jazz headz. Double Helix hails from Detroit and was pointed out to us by his buddy Recloose. Thank you for that, cause this 3 tracker is just awesome Detroit (deeper) house and great downtempo beats, one of these track was already featured on last years' Planet E compilation ALL ACCES, the DEMF soundtrack. Currently out on limited one side promo is the Abicah Soul aka Stax from Detroit, this deep organ soloed house piece in a Body & Soul vein has received great feedback from people like Larry Heard, Frankie Feliciano, DJ Deep, Yannick, Osunlade, Alexi Delano, Terry Hunter and many more. Will be fully available after the summer. Upcoming: [RH 009] REDNOSE DISTRIKT "NYC Boom" Hopefully out before the summer also, some ass kicking jazz beats by this hot-nose collective! Meikbar's much praised house debut "Feelings" will get a proper release soon with a b-side called "Sunshine". It is also Meikbar that has teamed up with Recloose while he was in Amsterdam and have recorded a track for RH label, some "I-jez-fah-ted" funk for y'all. Alos Titonton Duvante & Volcov vs Paradox have confirmed releases for the label... www.rushhour.nl VARIOUS SHORTEEZ: DEEPART is getting ready to release another classic EP from Terry Brookes, this producer is certainly aiming for best electronic/techno producer of 2002. Unbelievable good record!! Props to Andy Deepart for picking up on this talent! He also has his man from Miami ready to record Ricochet for [DEEP 008]. DOWN LOW hits back in June with their 7th release already! This time Dutch based The Moderator is taking production credits. Limited orange copies will be available! INTERPERSONAL EXPERIENCE tests have just hit RH offices and are pleasing us very much. Steve Rachmad aka Sterac is hitting us with some futuristic flavoured electro as well as a rework of a classic 80's electro track.."(Bad Times) I Can't Stand It". Nice one Steve! OMOAMUSIC is working hard to put out their third release before the summer.Szymanski is Taking care of the production.he did the Marc Alphonse track on the sampler. Word has it that this will be another genre-breaking release from Omoamusic! You are warned... UNEXPECTED is the best selling jaz/beat project from young Amsterdam talent Perquisite, his first one went sky high. Right he's recording the 2nd one in collaboration with David Kweksilber (New Cool Collective) & Bart Suèr (Sfeq-3000), 2 Dutch jazz musicians. Will be out after the summer. Thanks for listening. I think we can all assume that if there is ever any sort of trivia contest pertaining to musical obscurities, that Greg will lap the field. I don't think there is anything he isn't privvy to. I say with all respect, of course.
