i've got a new cd-r release thru zenapolae records, a small philadelphia
label that focuses on ambient, idm and experimental music.
the release is called oceans, and is about an hour's worth of simple, yet
experimental music. "u-ix" starts the cd with thin drums and melodies
reminiscent of the "human voice" setting on the old casio sk-1's.
"yellow-green" seconds the notions of track one with simple beats and synth
sounds with subtle ambience just under the surface. "cords" picks the
tempo up with infectious rhythm and a quiet voice that molds itself
unkowingly into the track. "octet truss" continues with the energy (after
the blurry "neptune") with pounding beats and an almost dance sound.
"chlorine" is meditation through water and rock, which leaves your ears open
to "permafrost", the cd closer. this track grazes along cold dry expanses
with random melodies and bass, with the wind (beautiful digital feedback)
constantly surrounding.
furthermore, for ambient and experimental electronic music, there are a good
bit of releases of various people up at the site along with my stuff.
there are hi-fi and lo-fi streams of a couple of my songs up at
www.zenapolae.com. cd-r price is 5.99, so if you like it please do buy a
copy. feel free to mail me at cichli@aol.com for comments, questions,
criticism or anything. thanks for reading.
