when i was a teenager, "welcome to my dream" was something i heard on like,
the last few minutes of 120 minutes on mtv
remember when mtv showed music videos? seems like somehow there was always
good stuff in the last few minutes of 120 minutes, heard machines of loving
grace, sister machinegun (fuck you chris randall!), gravity kills and other
stuff there
anyways, that whole album just blew me away as i was really into hip hop
and stuff at the time but just totally failed to identify with any of the
themes in most of the music
to hear lyrics about basically being a weird, paranoid loner, being rapped
in a real simple de-la-soul style over amazing instrumentals
iirc dj zero went on to produce the ill-fated second vanilla ice album
which sort of tanked his career
probably one of my all time favorite albums, memorized every word
