<<Could be, but Simulationszeitalter is a quintessential Kraftwerk rip - imo more so than his other Kraftwerk rips.>> But that's not to detract from the fact that it's really quite good! I consider it really "dark" scary electro (unlike Kraftwerk); it's not "poppy," it's "deep"... but some people just find it "gimmicky"... I guess one man's "kitsch" is another man's "shtick." Or "something." <<>>go for "Little Computer People">> Now that shit's cheesy. My favorite Rother track might be "Sex with Machines" on Kanzleramt. It's neither excessively Kraftwerkian nor excessively cheesy. Besides, the whole electro genre is a total rip on Kraftwerk. Cut the man some slack. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Rother? How can you not like his electro.. it may be derivative, but it's uprfront about it! I give him total props for his psi-performer.. I absolutely love that album - For those that haven't had the pleasure of hearing it, it's a mish mash of dark lo-fi ambient leaning pieces some technoish and others downtempo.. really dense and moving stuff with a damn fine collection of remixes to boot. This guy is a talented artist and I can't wait to hear his output now that he seems to be gearing himself towards cohesive album production rather than eps. ~g -- Greg Smith http://www.technowest.org http://www.laiad.com http://www.mediawhore.cc <-- site launch Jan 1/02 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Just to clarify MY part in this banter (the first remark), I have *no* problem with it being similar to Kraftfwerk ~at all~, nor was I taking any kind of swipe Rother or electro. Love 'em both. jeff np-Family Matters : Kamakasi (get pretty baby)....see? :-) At 10:55 PM 11/1/2001, Greg Smith wrote:

cocadisco by the parallax corporation (otherwise known as I.F.) just out on viewlexx is rather good. italian disco stylings and really fat analogue sounds, and a little more driving and darker than i.f. in a lot of places. good release, check it out. -thomas __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? <<doppler effect rules>> "Plastiphilia," in particular, always gets me revved up in the morning. Sometimes it strikes me as a subtle commentary on the objectification of women, a tip of the hat to Kraftwerk's "Showroom Dummies." But usually I just rock out to its unadulterated electro simplicity, its consummation of post-ironic Detroit ultramodernism. I guess that goes for everything by Dopplereffekt. And don't worry, I'm being ironic when I use terms like "post-ironic." I think. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
