I may be in the minority here, but I've decided that I'm going to quit downloading tracks that I'm eagerly awaiting the release of. For me, it takes all of the fun out of getting a new Aphex or Autechre CD(or other artist). i agree with you completely here.. getting md - between gaps before it came out took a lot of the fun out of it, but i just don't have the willpower not to get albums when i see them floating about on soulseek far before they should :) On Sat, Aug 25, 2001 at 08:51:28AM -0400, component wrote:

Remebering of course that there are never any hoaxes with richard james... I've seen more fake AFX tracks than I've had cold puddings. I really don't want to hear Drukqs until it's out. georgewilliamson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Heide" <peter@heide.1a.dk> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Saturday, August 25, 2001 1:37 PM Subject: [idm] DrukQs is out there...... ....but where ? well... there has been a couple a mails lately, with the happy info that the album is floating around i have to ask these ultra intelligent questions : Gnutella Morpheus LimeWire another peer to peer ? a FTP-server for the ultra hip IDM in-crowd or just a plain old homepage ? Its a possibility that he would leak it himself. But you realize warp sends out hundreds of promo copies to magazines, online magazines, record stores, etc. Im sure it only takes a day or two before those publications share those promos with their writers and staff, then they share it with their freinds, then those freinds share it with those freinds, and so on, until a freind of a freind of a freind shares it publicly on audiogalaxy, or soulseeker or something of the sort. i sorta agree, but its different if you can muster DLing the whole album in high quality (256k mp3 baby!). I did this with Confield and it was about as fun as going to the store and getting the fucker. Later when I went to the store to pick up confield though, it was like "so what?". Ebola np: Converter

I am a huge aphex twin fanatic, I have every album, ep, remix, compilation out there (and then some, ie. unreleased), and after obtaining the 320k encoding of Drukqs, I am not that impressed. It can't hold a candle to his old stuff. After listening to it 10 or so times, I convinced myself to delete the MP3's. I WILL be purchasing Drukqs, although doing so will be solely for "completist" purposes. Pete, if you're still looking for the MP3's, a lot of the "Ultra Hip IDM In-Crowd" uses Hotline (my favorite) and Soulseek.
