Start with the 12" Misnomer (Output) - it has the long version of Misnomer, which makes it all the worthwhile. The short version of Misnomer (the song, not the ep) and the other 3 tracks on the Misnomer ep all reappear on _Dialogue_ (Output), which is truly incredible - one of about 6 albums I own that I can listen to over and over and always find something to appreciate. Two other eps are worth getting ahold of: "Glasshead/Calamine" and "36:25" - the latter of which is the most wandering, daresay experimental, of his work I've heard. Several remixes exist - one in the Xencuts box set, a Fourtet/Pole split ep on Leaf (quite good), and several others. I'd like to see some listees contribute the ones they know of so I can see what I've missed. Yes, I already know the new album, but were there any 12" releases alongside it? Or any new remixes the last few months? The last one I remember was the Two Banks of Four on Sirkus ... thanks. That two banks of four remix is amazing, some strange take on uk garage and definitely a complete overhaul on the original song which is really great on its own. Lets not forget about the pole vs fourtet / fourtet vs pole record that came out. I'd also suggest Fridge's Of ep, that last fridge album was very much more a like the four tet material than the older fridge material. Speaking of remixes, I just picked up Goldfrapp's Utopia 12" with remixes by DNA and Plaid. Its really good. ____________________________________________ Adesh Deosaran Uneven Foundation T 1(718)349-1578 F 1(718)504-4010 adesh@unevenfoundation.com www.unevenfoundation.com -----Original Message----- From: James R McPherson [mailto:andregurov@juno.com] Sent: Wednesday, July 04, 2001 11:37 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] [four tet] Start with the 12" Misnomer (Output) - it has the long version of Misnomer, which makes it all the worthwhile. There's also a remix of David Holmes' 69 Police that was released recently (just as 'Kieran's mix I think) - it's not all that different from the original though - slightly sped up & stripped down. There's also the No More Mosquitos EP that came out last week. Does anyone know where I could get the original 36:25 EP? I've been looking for it over the last two years, with no luck. I agree with whoever was talking about the long version of Misnomer - it's one of the best songs I've ever heard. I saw him live the other month, and you would not believe how good Glasshead sounded played over a big sound system. The new album's really nice, but it doesn't seem to quite have the 'depth' of Dialogue. I've only listened to it a few times so far, so maybe it'll reveal itself over time - 'parks' is lovely though.
