At least keep it to a minimum, don't send emails saying "I love this album" or "I hate this album"(highly doubtful). Say something that people will want to hear about, like, "i heard they recorded a song underwater to give it a 'wetter' feel." You know, obscure stuff that no one would know about unless said. (i know that recording underwater won't give their sound a 'wetter' feel, so please don't answer on that account) ;-p on 4/17/01 3:00 PM, Ian Pojman at ipojman@jmlafferty.com wrote:

Hey, welcome to the list 'n all. For audio-production related work, you may want to take a look at the idm-making group on yahoogroups (groups.yahoo.com/idm-making i believe). I love how when people feel threatened by something - apparently because they're concerned that that thing has a certain cool cachet and they're missing out on it - they deride the proponents of that thing as "elitist." As for antiquated and outdated - I applaud you on your progressivism. I hope you've given up using the internal combustion engine as a part of your bold program. Let me retort again, I don't buy vinyl because it is bulky and outdated. I don't buy it because 'IDM' tends to be in a rather limited press; I do not express any interest in paying a buttload of money for a few tracks on vinyl. I listen to music, I don't dj it or create it. Vinyl does not appeal to me because that is how I feel; I think I made a rather relative comment and you are not in any position to judge me for my opinion. -daniel -----Original Message----- From: Philip Sherburne [mailto:psherburne@mindspring.com] Sent: Friday, February 07, 2003 3:04 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: [idm] <no subject>

I respect your opinion on vinyl, and, although I listen to vinyl and enjoy it, I also think it's large and bulky and a pain to move about, and sometimes a pain to listen to. But as soon as you put your opinion out into the public, you should be prepared to be judged and defend that opinion. Otherwise, don't tell people and you won't be judged. It's that whole "part of a society" thing :) If you want to avoid such a thing, simply post facts and links backing up those facts. As they're not your opinion, they won't be judged as such. derek ------- eggytoast.com ------- coming soon: eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
