A recording would be fine. I'm really not obsessed with having the
internals of the patch exposed anyway, as I don't yet own Max/MSP (not
until this summer, when I make my purchase).
Not to sound contradictory, but I also don't really believe it's
"everybody's right" to have something that Autechre made & gave to a
couple of friends, especially in this age of software synthesis.
Specifically, I mean this: an artist's patches are really becoming their
custom instruments (with the hours of development and practice that go
along with that), and I don't want to simply steal that work away from
an artist who hasn't agreed.
Similar to the Autechre thing, I'd *love* to see and hear some of Kit
Clayton's Max/MSP patches, but hey, I have the music that he created
with them, and that's all I feel I have a "right" to.
Sorry if I'm coming across as self-righteous, but I've given a bit of
thought to the issues involved as I'm considering a move to more
software-based synthesis and composition myself.
