Although i don't really listen to much of trent reznor's music, i have a lot of respect for him, in interviews he openly praises his influences like ministry and skinny puppy (amongst others), his label has carried many of the warp acts i love now, and he has signed several other acts that i respect like einsturzende neubauten and coil. Not trying to say that he is some kind of visionary or a great musician, but he isn't afraid to try new things or talk about where his influences lie. He even goes into heavy detail as to how his music is made (which is more than most acts discussed here are willing to do) _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah, and he's made music that's definitely his own and sounds only vaguely like the bands people associate with him, to my ears... been quite successful at it too, i think this is what pisses people off about him. i think his output has been mixed, the broken ep is great if you're into the angst power chord thing... further down the spiral remixes is one of my all-time favorite electronic releases. For those who don't know, Mike Patton(see also, Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More) is a lyrical genius! and that bucket wearing geetar player is also outstanding(see also PRAXIS, PIECES). But what went down at the Knitting factory tonight in Hollywood was CRAZY!!! Dj Flare threw the beats and cuts as buckethead wailed on the Double Barrel, and Patton, umm...WAS FUCKING GREAT. Using various vocal techniques and effects to battle the dj. Beatboxing, skratching with a CB mic!!! the night went smooth, ranging from nice melodic hymns to fucked up hiphop styles that would have yer uncle frank shitting bricks. I highly recommend checking out Fantomas and Mr. Bungle..and look for Buckethead, he's everywhere from Dj Q-berts Wave Twisters to Bootsies Zillatron. Flare really needs no introduction....i dont think, but incase you dont know, he invented the flare skratch. =o] well, I'm still flabergasted from the show....hope if anyone else that was there reads this enjoyed it as much as I did. peace. Great to hear Buckethead is back on form, I've seen him about 5-6 times in SF with DJ Disk (Skratch Picklz) as Giant Robot 2, Solo and versus the Scientist (in dub) in the Devil Dub Band, it's a fucked up show. I would not normally recommend a guitar wielding maniac like buckethead, or maybe I would? What was their Moniker for the show? Moonraker? -i --- sprek@soundmangle.com wrote:

>with DJ Disk (Skratch Picklz) as Giant Robot 2,< good stuff! >What was their Moniker for the show? Moonraker?< yah, I believe its a on going project of Mike Patton's, "Moonraker"(just a live collaboration between artists) last show i heard about was Dj Eddie Def , Patton, and some Japanese vocalist. I had the mp3z for the show...very noisy fun. >I would not normally recommend a guitar wielding maniac like buckethead< i would definitely recommend buckethead, but allot of people in this list might be to close minded to give a bit of hardrock/hiphop/funk a try.
