Finally got the new Meat Beat Manifesto 12" in the mail the other day. "Eccentric Objects" has four songs and mine came with the limited edition 10" flexi-disc (!) with two recordings of some sound recording experiments from the 60s or 70s. The four songs I would recommend to those who prefer his more dub styled songs from Actual Sounds and Voices and Subliminal Sandwich. And the drums sound very much like a standard acoustic set along with some great analog synth bass lines and occasional honky saxophone. All songs are instrumental except one which has a prominently featured female vocal sample. None of the songs exhibit any trace of his squeaky, squealy, post-industrial techno. The first side of the flexi has some scientific audio experiment from the 50's or 60's where somebody recorded sounds of internal organs doing their work and a second expeiment where the pitch of a male voice is altered. The second side of the flexi starts out with an eavesdropped recording of some woman speaking in Spanish on the phone (ala Scanner style) and moves into a noise/synth/ambient track towards the end. Neat stuff indeed, but hopefully he gets back to that good ol' bumpin' throbbin' grindy aggro techno next time around. More info I'm sure at brainwashed.com/mbm or sputnik7.com _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i got this as well.. one of those crazy hand-painted ones (#130). i think his "tino's breaks" endeavor is playing heavily into his own work, as this is very percussive but not techno by any means. in fact, i could see jack dangers and amon tobin working together to great results. musically, at least.

well the flexidisk is a sort of 'bonus", the real stuff he's probably going to do in the future is the stuff on the record. his mp3 by Loop Finder General is also very similar to the new mbm 12". so prepare to hear more drums and more real instruments. hooray! :D cheers, /derek - - - - - Alice could not help her lips curing up into a smile as she began: "Do you know, I always thought Unicorns were fabulous monsters, too! I never saw one alive before!" "Well, now that we HAVE seen each other," said the Unicorn, "if you'll believe in me, I'll believe in you. Is that a bargain?" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
