Hello all, Does anyone know more about the two 'new' albums listed in the BoC discography on their site? Catalog 3 - released in summer of 1987(!) Closes Vol. 1 - released in 1992 What also boggles my mind is how something with a ridiculously low pressing (BOC Maxima, 50 copies) found it's way onto Napster, but other releases with more copies pressed (Hooper Bay, Play By Numbers) have never seen the light of day. WARP should act quickly and release all the old Music70 stuff before it does leak out in the dreaded MP3 format. Regards, Joyrex www.joyrex.com - The Aphex Twin Resource.

Wasn't BOC Maxima the one they sent to labels as a promo/demo? That would mean a much more diverse audience would have seen it, rather than just acquaintances/friends.

well the stuff before 1989 was a "band", and i'm pretty sure sounded nothing at all like the boards of canada we "know and love."

i think it could be argued that maxima was sent around to 'real people', instead of just their friends, and is likely what got them signed on the skam label for "hi scores"

i agree, although i doubt they're going to do that. from the sound of it, mike and marcus are very particular about the music they actually release, which is why the back catalog seems so huge yet the available albums and ep's are so sparse. they have a 5-album (not ep, album) contract to warp, so we're going to hear more from them. i just hope some of it is the really good old stuff, too. cheers, /derek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
