First remix 'ever' would be a lofty claim. However their mix of 'Paid In
Full' is widely regarded as one of the earliest remixes (in the sense of
remix as we know it today...not to be confused with remix in the sense of
'Version' which exsisted in dub/reggae for years before), and it is also
considered to have been instrumental in crossing over hip-hop to a wider
audience (along with many other moments in the history of hip-hop).
Ego Trip 'Book Of Rap Lists' checks it as being one of the top hip-hop
remixes ever, so we got some back up there.
...and yes there was an instrumental version called 'Not Paid Enough'
