There's a little wip-wip-wip noise in the background of that track that sounded bloody familiar. I was sure it was Autechre, pulled out 'Tri Repetae' to have a skip through. Lo, it's the end of 'Rotar', I swear. This is the second time I've heard an Ae sample in drum n bass... Polar's 'Mass Mysterior' samples 'Leterel', also off 'Tri Repetae'. In fact, more generally, that's the only Ae release I've heard other people sampling... All this trainspotting over and done with, I enjoy that Photek track more than anything Ae have released in the past 5 years. :-P Wicked. The tuned drums at the beginning made me laugh, but not in a bad way. :-) Thanks heaps for forwarding the link! Michael np. That's interesting! I will have to go back and listen to all of that. I never picked out the "Leterel" sample in that Polar tune before. Polar (K) is really GOOD, it sort of has an IDM influenced feel to it. Panacea sampled "Second Bad Vilbel" in his tune "Jacob's Ladder" or maybe it was the flip. It's been many years since I have heard it. --- Michael Upton <jetjag@mailandnews.com> wrote:

a lot of the certificate18 material seems to have that 'idm' feel to it. i'm sure there's a klute track (maybe the one photek remixed?) that sampled aphex twin's 'start as you mean to go on'. on the polar and cert18 tip - what has polar released? i really like the album on cert18 and 'mind of a killer' is one of my favourites at the moment. and yep i think it was the flip of jacob's ladder - 'stormbringer' that stole the beat from 'second bad vilbel'. dave

The Photek remix of "Silent Weapon" was really minimal. What was the Aphex Twin sample like? Speaking of Klute, he has a new lp out soon called Fear Of People. Should be a really good lp!!

. Polar - 37 C And Falling Lp . Polar - Mind Of A Killer (remixes) . Polar - Biosfear ep For those that don't know, K (otherwise known as Polar) and Teebee have their own label called SUBTITLES. K's release "Thought Control/The 7th Dynasty [Subtitles 02] is excellent!!! Fans of Photek would like this! And Subtitles #3 should be coming out soon. It's another ep from K called Evil Twin
