in no particular order... 1. the "melody revival" reaches full speed (isan, aspen, solvent, fleischmann, thug) 2. the "new ambient" (shuttle358, cathars, pulse programming, novisad) 3. "all is full of love" funkstorung remix & chris cunningham's video 4. the s://kimo vs. bent crayon flame war (sorry about that guys) 5. mille plateaux releases like a thousand great discs 6. kraftwerk's return to daylight (almost) 7. i finally got an MD deck so now i have no excuse for not listening to my vinyl 8. "electronia" totally vanishes from the mass media's visible radar (thankfully), only to show up in the beats of "genie in a bottle" (take out the vocals then tell me it's not an autechre/f-storung ripp-off) 9. urban sounds finally posts a new issue 10. ep7 proves autechre still rule! 11. dot records, where are you? 12. skam redeems themselves (if that is at all possible) by re-issuing HI-Scores 13. seemed like the catalog number '001' popped up often this year ---------------------------------------------- D is for Desond thrown out of a sleigh ---------------------------------------------- bruce levenstein bruceLev@mindspring.com ---------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Augh! Stop it, you're frightening me...

Returning soon if my "sources" are to be believed. Check the new releases list at brainwashed.com/feedback - I added a bunch of Dot stuff a couple of days ago that is supposedly due out in 2000. Wooh! Someone else thinks this! Well, I wouldn't go with those specific artists, but I think if there were an instrumental available heaps of IDM fans would listen to it happily without clicking that it's a big pop hit. The music in the chorus is a bit too righteous and standard pop songs, but the rest is there. It's 11 AM on New Year's Eve here in NZ. I was gonna say I'll keep people posted on whether everything spits the dummy, so all on the other side of the globe have a head start, but, well, for obvious reasons I won't be able to. :-) Not to mention that I may of course be out of the house and having a boogie somewhere. ;-) Michael np.
