shocked that not many people have mentioned the coachella festival that happened in california this last weekend (we dont get many of these :) anyway, it was great fun.. but a few things struck me as odd.. it seems harcore/breakcore is in the future of IDM (well, i guess it is already here in some ways with ambush/praxis/uncivilized world, kid606 etc). however, autechre busted out a weird little breakcore song, and m-ziq got downright destructive with what sounded like a hybrid of early harsh aphex and newschool hardcore/breakcore. and it was all so wonderful! opinions? anyone? people seemed to especially eat up m-ziq.. even those who didnt seem like they were there for idm type stuffs (and even those tat seemed like they were there for rage against the machine/tool type stuffs). oh - and for those of you who are hip and beyond the hype of autechre.. thats too bad, because the live set they did was quite impressive.. VERY diverse >>> ambient-noise-breakcore-4onthefloor(almost)-tweeky beats. they went all over for one of the most intense and fun 1.5 hours i have had listening to a performance (wasnt much to see :). i guess thats all. chris. music for lunchpails . wednesdays 6-9pm . kuci 88.9fm . www.kuci.org "There is no way a beautiful woman can live up to what she looks like for any appreciable length of time." - Kilgore Trout

i caught autechre in toronto and thought the coachella show was very mellow by comparison, the TO show was frightening, coachella was almost soothing. i missed most of m-ziq.

i was surprised that art of noise did the same lame voiceover for the claude d. stuff live as on the CD. sound was terrible on the mainstage, and on the small stage the second night - poor moby sounded like hell. my home town djs (the detroiters) were well recieved. best part (non-musical) was seeing house plants growing ten feet tall in peoples front yards in LA, tidal pools at carillo state beach and excellent mexican food. -- =eric=korsedal=
