Just picked up a copy of the new Artefacts compilation cd on the Russian Art-Tek label and i must say i'm quite impressed. This comp, which features 13 tracks all from Russian electronic music producers, shows that the Russian electronic music scene is as fruitful as any other in the world. Lots on idm-friendly tracks on this comp with a few DHR-ish and experimental ambient tracks mixed in as well. Over the 13 tracks there are a few familiar names - Fizzarum, Novel 23, and Solar X - but most of them are new to me. The other artists on Artefacts include Lazyfish, Eu, DJ Compass Vrubell, J-Toonz, Kustota, Ambidextrous, T.A.N.D.E.M., Panya, SCSI-9, and Cutoff. Here is the full tracklisting on this one. . Artefacts comp cd (Art-Tek 01) Tracks: - Lazyfish: 100% thanks for radium - Eu: chi - DJ Compass Vrubell: captain of the Loo - Fizzarum: distorb - J-Toonz: black noise - Kustota: easy2 - Ambidextrous: sinedance - T.A.N.D.E.M.: 127.0.0.1 - Panya: blin - SCSI-9: morning star - Cutoff: xiloforx - Novel 23: l'mira - Solar X: eating dumplings The only down side to this compilation is that all the liner notes are in Russian so additional info on the artists is a little hard to come by if your Russian language skills are a bit dull. But separate URLs for each of the artists on this comp are provided so more info could be found there if necessary. The official Art-Tek website is at: http://art-tek.mu.ru/ but for some reason the only info available on the site relates to various issues & troubleshooting of windows-based printers?!? Maybe you could get more info if you emailed them at: art-tek@mu.ru But despite the odd website, Artefacts is an informative & entertaining glimpse into the Russian electronic music landscape. -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

There is not much info in those notes. Many of them are funny text snippets of bare relation.

Oops, it's a fodder temporarily used by designer (quite a funky one). The site apparently isn't ready yet. -- Stay tuned, MhZ

Forced Exposure and Skimo have been sent promos and are awaited to conclude about their orders. Maybe if you push them... ;) -- Stay tuned, MhZ

That's not a good idea. Andrei
