Does anyone know anything about a festival (I think) called Evenfurther that took place this past weekend ? I mainly just need to know what the complete line-up was. It was probably discussed on the list, but I must have completely missed it. Thanks, Andrei np: Bogdan Raczynski - Samurai Math Beats

Oh good lord, DJ Scud. What the hell was he spinning? I recgonized some traditional noise, but the rest (my girlfriend and I decided to call it "lepercaunfuckreggajedilawncore") was beyond me. It was great, everyone in the barn was going insane, delightfully juxtaposed with the folks who brought in some lawnchairs and just chilled out. Fun set. From there we went to the "Horses/Ponies #4" barn and saw Richard Devine work his magic live. I saw him at the /bin show in chicago the week before, but his "further" set was far noiser and had a noticibly harder edge. Yes, this maximalism. Bogdan really rocked the house. You could tell he was takign stage presence lessons from Rich James. During one of his many forrays from the behind the table, we had an opportunity to sit down and chat for a bit. He's a really nice guy. .diminish was suprising. I'd never heard of them and their blend of more simple beats (compared to Rich Devine) with DSP and nice melodies was really refreshing. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see PBO. We were so tired we had to hit the sack. Fortunately a friend got it on DAT. he he. It was all amazingly fun, except for the fact my girlfriend's car was broken into and a bunch of our stuff was stolen. But that was really the only significant problem. Next year should be even better. -andrew -- Visit the Bring Back the Beat Foundation homepage: http://www.calvin.edu/~asmith89/bringit.htm

if you call pushing play on the laptop live (re: bogdan). PsonicPfistpfuck was definately a highlight for me too (substance P and davros)... chaotic drum beats and driving basslines ...check out http://i.am/hotf for any info on Substance P releases... Richard fucking Devine. fucking amazing. he started out with this little frequency box and just made random sounds..moved into his laptop and let the rhythms begin.. fucking great. the highlight of my weekend. DJ Scud was pretty good too... mixed everything from DHR.Limited material to noise remixes of old school ragga tunes.. fucking great.. the rave kids hated it though =) (also got to see some guy pissing in his hand and drinking it behind scud..very interesting) saturday bode less well for my tired ass. the endpoint recordings artists out of chicago were in full effect: .diminish (look for their release coming out in a few months..plus the compilation track).. amazing idm material, CNS Engineering.. really happy and melodic. then bogdan. the music is fucking amazing. heard some tracks off of Samurai Math Beats.. soem new ones that I havent heard.. only dissappointment is that he pushed play and let the track go. Live PA != prerecorded material played over again anyways the music was fucking amazing. i want more. now. My tired ass fell asleep in a lawn chair so i missed out on PBO. =( Props to the Drop Bass Network, History of the Future, and Struggle Inc. for putting this together. Definatley pushing the limits of sound. for more info on any of these groups check out http://www.dropbass.net ; http://i.am.hotf ; http://www.struggleinc.com These three groups long with Endpoint Records http://www.dusttraxx.com/end/index.html ; and the /bin shows http://www.enteract.com/~egoiste are the future of the midwest IDM scene. -miked ps. anyone pick up the Struggle Inc 001 by Modulator (aka Freddie Fresh)? whatcha think?
