It's disgusting! I for one hope that more pirate sites spring up, where someone will make MP3's of music and post it for all to download for free. These sites can move around and be underground, like pirate software sites! ;) Major labels want money and nothing else! They suck!!!!

just thought everyone w/ mp3's on line might like to know that virgin has found a clever way to make about 800% clear profit out of your efforts. they're putting cd burners in the store and charging people $10 to fill a blank cdr (retail ~ $1 - $1.5) from the internet. http://www.wired.com/news/news/culture/story/20759.html -martin

Keep your shirt on, You forgot this part: Customers will pick from about 100 tracks found on eight different Internet music sites that have entered an agreement with network and kiosk service, RedDotNet. note the "pick from about 100 tracks"... by, uh, how many artists? 10-20 probably? I should think those artists are majors if not well known artists just doing mp3-only releases, else the kiosk wouldn't draw enough customers to pay for itself. Well, not quite *everyone*, only folks who are partnered with the eight sites involved (MP3.com is *not* one of them yet). And it's really only 600% or so, because they do have to install kiosks and hook them up and so forth. :-) So I don't think most folks here have anything to worry about. -- Adam J Weitzman "They don't make music like that NewsEdge Corporation these days. here's my question: are they going to burn at 4x or faster? I've found that audio tends to suck when it's burned faster than 2x. But no one wants to stand at a freakin kiosk in the middle of a mall for 30 minutes while a CD burns. (i assume these kiosks will be un-manned.) -Maer... On Thu, 15 Jul 1999, Adam J Weitzman wrote:
