oh dear oh dear... if you are true Autechre fans then you should have bought the Warp release anyway...surely you should have been ordering it on day of release? did all the UK Autechre fans complain when Tri Repetae came out as a double CD with Anvil Vapre and Garbage tagged on? You got the better deal there as you didn't have to buy 3 Ae CDs. Case of Warp ripping off its UK customers.....? Did you complain when you found out there was that extra track on the Japanese version of Tri Repetae? i doubt it, you all probably tried to track down this version too. Similar story with Jega's Spectrum, I have got both the UK and US version for the nice different tracks they have - what I'm trying to say is it works both ways. So stop complaining and get yourself the Warp version, thats probably the best message you could give to Nothing anyway...... You know, the answer to this riddle could be trouble from the pressing plant. Plant: "You want to put several minutes of audio in the 2-second pregap before track one? Our machines will only accept a standard, 2-second, silent pregap." Label: "Crap! If we have someone else press it, we'll have to delay the release, and we're already behind schedule. Ah, jeez, just cut the bonus track..." I'm in the middle of a similar situation right now, trying to figure out why Cinram is choking on perfectly functional CD-Extra premasters, when nobody at the plant can even say what the problem is. The point is, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that anyone is trying to rip you off. BTW, if you can rip audio from the pregap on a CD, let me know what you're using to do it. --Mark __ Burning Rome : SENSELESS CD on Mindfield Records MindCD03 Cathartium 14 < http://www.burningrome.com/ > < more high-quality MP3s coming soon >

clipped the text at the bottom from the skimo new release list. at the risk of starting an annoying thread, what the hell is with this ongoing warp/nothing crap? who is really to blame here? it seems like Nothing trying to make a few more cents by reducing production costs, but maybe warp really is at fault for some reason. i honestly don't understand it. it seems so simple to me. if you want people to buy the US version, give them the same product on the same (or at least close) release date. why is this so hard? Nothing's plan may have worked before the internet came along and made it easy for anyone to get details on UK imports and buy them on-line. besides, don't they realize the typical autechre fan is not some average casual music listener, but rather someone very likely to actually care about hidden bonus tracks and unique packaging and be willing to put down a few extra dollars for it? and the import bans are just a joke. has anyone noticed the Nothing version of the LP5 CD is now coming in some truly ugly generic white package?

yeah, i got my copy of ep7 direct from warpmart, bonus track and all, and it still probably cost about the same as the nothing version would have cost me. bought the plaid from warp, too. why take chances on missing out on something. then again, there's the reverse where the UK version comes out and then they releasea US version with 'bonus tracks' culled from an ep or something. it's all a big pain in the butt. alan! np:v/a:life in the fat lane On Sat, 10 Jul 1999, brucelev wrote:

Its my understanding that Japan has a policy something like this: A release must either: A.) Come out in Japan first Or: B.) Have extra tracks on it unique to the Japanese release Something to do with encouraging its people to purchase "home-grown" talent. This could explain why the Warp stuff shows up there first. 337is still trying to score the Japanese version of Consumed with the bonus 3" cd.

It's about 6 minutes of beatless, experimental fucking about. It's not horrible, but nothing special either. And since it's hidden before track #1, I'm betting that the majority of the people who buy the Warp release probably won't even realize it's there. I suppose it's just the principle of the thing, though. Greg

you can do this with Golden Hawk's CDR-WIN (http://www.cdrwin.com )...the read function allows you to read by sectors (frames), 75 of which make up 1 second of redbook CD audio (13500 sectors is 3 minutes, etc)...reading from sector 0 to 13500 is a good guesstimate, but of course you can always overshoot and trim the rest off with sound forge, etc etc etc... i'm using CDR-WIN 3.7b, i assume earier versions will do this as well...i wish cd architect did. anyone with the warp autechre ep7 wanna mp3 that sucka hidden track? ;) audiopig

CDR-Win is hands down the best burning software around, as you can do hidden tracks, overburn (I've gotten 77:30 worth of audio on a 74min CDRs without a single frisbee) and make "backups" of software that other burning software can't seem to handle, not only that, it's only 870k installed! EZCD Creator is 14MB! I have plenty of room and all, but I like small apps :) Nero is also quite good, but I *wub* CDRWin. If it supports your drive, you should switch apps, period. :) .Bil. ich|bin|ein|kopieier

Quite so - thank you and I certainly second that. *IS* it on the vinyl version or not? I only got one weird reply to my previous query, which I don't know whether to take seriously or not. No offence... but I'd really just like to know it straight - yes or no? I *
