so, who started calling what is essentially the 'autechre' (eponymous, even) album: 'lp5'? warp/ae or idmsters worldwide? if 'lp5' is a term coined by the idmsters, how funny is it that they're advertising the new ep as 'ep7' verbatim? if not, why do i keep opening my darned trap? please feel free to shrug this message off. -- david

I do know that when I worked at the college radio station in Munich, lp5 was listed as such in whatever mini-publication was sent out advertising releases. I would guess the lp5 designation came from warp-- i.e. listed as such in behind-the-scenes releases but not labeled that way on the CD M. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's up.

I think it's always been lp5. However, the Nothing (there they are again) release has a top spine which calls it "Autechre." Haven't seen the Warp album, so I can't comment. Sam

a warp ad for the album in 'the wire' called it "lp5", more of a description than a name. this was before it was released. i think the flash page in warography also calls it "lp5"? (the ad and the flash page are similar). however, the promo for it only had "autechre album" on it. if you're really, really curious, there's a small scan of the promo on http://www.techno.org/hq/rek/img/autechre.jpg hs _____________________________ what we are, we choose to be.
