Interesting debate between a friend of mine and my brother. My friend is a synth purist. His studio is all analog gear except for 1 digi synth and 1 digi drum machine. His music sound like classic tangerine dream quite often. He does the german trance thing too. OTOH My brother has two main instruments...both are samplers. Most of the time all of his source material is jazz / early electronic experimental / psychadelic rock / funk records. He mangles all the sounds and recontenxtualizes them to staggering degrees, but for the most part, he stays away from synths. Now...whose music is more organic??? I can't decide on this one. Really...the one set up is purely electronic and the other is purely found sounds that exist in the "real world," not on a circuit board. <--THis point is debatable, but we're talking about the finished product here. I've heard some of your brother's tracks and they are indeed very good, and while I don't know this other bloke, I see no reason why one method is superior to another. And all music is a perfectly synthetic creation; no reason to try and judge authenticity just on the production technique.

Oval has records out domestically, I believe on Thrill Jockey out of Chicago. A web search will turn up where you can get it...
