i usually get annoyed with questions like this, but what the hell - i'm nothing if not a raging hypocrite... anyone know who phonia is? have they released any other records? (i quite dig _disco operating system_ - it's like panasonic jamming with, i dunno, someone else...) how is the matthew thomas p3 3" cd? i got _remodulation_ and it's definitely the best sampled-radio-tuning cd i've gotten this week. is there a new fennesz album coming soon or am i hallucinating? i just (finally) picked up _hotel paral.lel_ and i'm literally creaming my jeans, as we speak. oh the disjointedness! oh, the feedback! and if you don't already own _plays_, what's your problem? oh, right. it's guitar. also picked up the pure _the.end.of.vinyl_ 3" cd; created entirely with run-out grooves (thus the title, get it?) it says, but has that very mego-ish error-musik feel. no beats, just weird amorphous flow, not nearly as satisfying as institut fuer feinmotorik if you're looking for scratchy, raspy loop asynch-superimposition. and if you buy only one cd of modulated 440 hz sine waves this year, make sure it's ryoji ikeda's _20' to 2000_ release. i figure it's a good a substitute for EBS tests and 99% of the meme catalog as any... also got a bootleg by this heat, caetano veloso _araca azul_ and algarnas tradgard this week. but it all has guitars. :D new reviews soon @ www.homestead.com/spleens/ sarcastically yours, in christ (revive the jizra!); [gr] -- [http://listen.to/treblequake] a relevant KMFDM quote: "white and trashy and incredibly dumb!" _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web. i agree. it is a good release. i bought it because of the bc/cr comparisons the writeup gave it but when i got it home i found it was a lot more abrasive than your typical bc/cr sound. it's not what i expected but it's growing on me. i did a bit of research but all i could find was the names of a few other Blanc Mange label records: . Secret Show: Bandstand 12" (Blanc Mange Comm) . Ripwrap: Bugrider 12" (Blanc Mange Comm) . Fast Robert: Kushti 12" (Blanc Mange Comm) . Watts: Baba 12" (Blanc Mange Comm) i have inquiries out about the above releases and will post anything i find out.

i have the thomas p3 3" and really enjoy it. i dont have remodulations yet so i cannot compare it to that one but the thomas p3 sounds somewhat like the experimental ambience flavor of microstoria, some of the sigma releases, or ryoji ikeda.

supposedly there is another fennesz cd coming out on moikai soon but it's a reissue of the long out of print Instrument ep coupled with four new remixes. the release date for this one was vaguely listed as "spring" so who knows when that will be...

picking up the mego this evening but i do have to throw in my wholehearted recommendations for the two institut fuer feinmotorik lps on the fusetron and staubgold labels. both feature great minimal experimental electronica trickery somewhere in the neighborhood of mego, raster, chain reaction, snd, pole, and ikeda but still several blocks away... if the pure cd is half as good as the institut fuer feinmotorik lps then it will still be great. awesoma_powa you have awesome tastes in music! : ) -->-Lance--- mclance@nacs.net lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states
