Hotwired 3/31/1999 "A prototype product from the Netherlands aims to bring digital audio files to turntables, marrying vinyl and digital. Three guys in Amsterdam have developed a system that works with any turntable connected to a computer running the Be operating system. FinalScratch lets DJs and partythrowers map digital sound files, including MP3, to a special vinyl record, so they can mix and scratch them. Its good idea alright but it sounds like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. $299 (the price of the box, software, etc) will get you more than a few dubplates. I'd would be interested in seeing demo the system. There is a picture of the set-up at: http://www.n2it.net/finalscratch/index.html

though there is an "updated sometime recently" line on the page, it's not materially different than it was when this first cropped up a year or two ago. as for the picture, the record doesn't look any different than any other i've bought in my life, except that it has a snappy logo sticker on the label. eric
