"The Disinformation Plague" is very dark, textured techno - odd sounding; not like much else. Pretty good stuff.

Ant-Zen also releases a whole lot of ambient in their own style... which truth be told is not really that far from power noise, just quieter. --- the humble abbott arthur purvis set his hand hereto

Yep. _The Wonderful and Frightening World of Black Lung_, on Rollercoaster here (in .au). I got it a month back. Good stuff. I think stuff like _The Depopulation Bomb_, _The Disinformation Plague_, etc. have also been re-released locally.

Yep. Black Lung is just David Thrussell. Soma is David and Pieter Bourke. I've only got "Stygian Vistas" by them (quite rightly recommended by a listmember, though it isn't all dub). Getting off the track, Pieter Bourke and Lisa Gerrard (formerly of Dead Can Dance, since they've broken up.) also bunged out an interesting arabic-influenced thing with Gerrard doing her wierd singing bit last year on "Duality". That's out on 4AD, so it can't be too hard to find... Pretty good too... I'm not quite sure about what the makeup of Snog is, but they're a bit more poppy (insofar as anything Thrussell could be pop. Wee, I finally added some signal! -- Graham Hubert Freeman. Graham the Happy Scum. take your pick. http://www.mpx.com.au/~gths mailto:gths@flat-earth.org ... you will never know, how much i love you...

This is not to say Snog are bad. I heard a song on a radio show and thought it was pretty darn good. Didn't strike me as poppy per se, but then I haven't heard the other stuff in comparison...
