I absolutely love rastermusic (esp. noton), although i haven't picked up any of the 20' to 2000 releases yet (haven't picked up any raster for a while now that i think of it).. My favorite release is probably Noto's "[infinity symbol]" either the 2x10" lock groove edition or the CD... in the case of the CD, it's brief digitally created sounds (like 68 of them i think) created in an attempt to emulate environmental sounds of electronic orgin (fax machines, modems, etc).. I think that was the concept. Anyway it's really good, like Mego only much 'cleaner' (less static, etc). I also really like the Goem CD titled 'stud_stim'. All the sounds were generated from a device called a student stimulator, which is used to help studying students. It's really bizzare minimal techno, good. This is on the Noton sublabel (incidentaly run by noto), which is a bit different than the raster label proper. The rastermusic releases often have more 'substance', i suppose, as opposed to minimalism. Kinda out there electro mixed with vauge pop elements/influences.. everything i've heard on both labels is ace and i wouldn't hesitate to pick up any of their stuff. not yet but they've got an ill track (a collab with Jega no less) on VVMT0002 and some stuff on Subcon Geo's map1 release. Their debut 12" will be on Gonzi's Orange label titled 'bandwidth', and there's also forthcoming stuff for Pitchcadet records.. I can't wait Datatheif is so fucking fresh.. also, what happened to carpet bomb?? i absolutely LOVE thier CD and 12"s. but we haven't heard anything from them for like a year. what's up? i checked the old Kundalini site and all that's there is a link to luckykitchen.com. Will Kundalini be releasing stuff on LK?? the site's kinda outta date.. later, andrew
