I had no such intention. I merely meant that the sound has come into the mainstream, and now every wank with a computer has access to it, however stripped down it may be, and can incorporate it into their cookie-cutter-techno "mixes." And that's that. -Andrew -- Propecia: Are you taking enough? http://www.calvin.edu/~asmith89/

(I can confirm this story BTW. Ae is a big R8 user. It's all over the Anti EP, especially "Flutter") When you twist a knob in Rebirth it merely crossfades between samples. It's not even close to an emulation. Things like the attack and decay envelopes on the bass drums can be easily done in software by clipping the samples, but you're still going to get a static, very digital sound since you're only using samples. nick

personally I think these software synths have a lot of promise. They fail miserably in their emulation of old analogue synths, but once you stop trying to make it copy other things you can see the implications, you just need the brains for them...I can't really say anything about Rebirth but Generator is a pretty amazing program with a lot of potential. Especially as CPU speeds increase I think software stuff is going to be where the most innovation happens...I'm sure they're used lots already, I just can't tell exactly on what... cya-------->mIkE
