I know that elitists on the list will be chomping at the bit to jump on this guys lack of 'pushing the envelope' or being too derivative because he doesnt trade in his catchy melodies for some whacked 10/9 time signature of random HR-16 drum hits, but of all the 'hear my mp3' messages that up on IDM from time to time, you owe it to this guy to at least holler back at him and tell 'em what you think of these fairly sweet homebrew trax.. Many of you will *not* be disappointed, some of you will bitch, but a damn fine effort Eddie Symons, I may be able to tell what CD/12s are in your collection by hearing these tracks, but you put together the some good parts so you are on the right track IMHO !!! thanks for the URL ernie Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems Fort Worth, Texas

i'm getting pretty tired of reading on the **intelligent dance music** list, that liking experimental music, having a vocabulary and being articulate are 'elitist'. i mean isn't the whole concept of this list elitist in that idm is separate from the (by implication) 'less intelligent' house, techno, hip hop etc it grew out of. as idm gets older, more and more releases are coming out that harks back to 'golden era' and i'm fine w/ that, the bola cd is a v. pleasant example. but if everything were like that this scene would end up as stagnant as indie or punk are now despite their beginnings as irritants to the mainstream. the day all idm sounds like it was made in '93 i'll be listening to something else. elitist as fuck ... -martin

dont shoot, dont shoot! im unarmed! very good point, and I have no problems with experimental noise as I own quite a bit of it myself.. And what is this hang up people have with 'vocabulary' ?? Whos pissed off about people speaking intelligently on IDM? perhaps 'elitist' was too strong of a word; I should know by now that you cant please ALL the IDMers ALL the time ;) The gist of the message was meant as encouragement to someone who at least tries his hand at creating music rather than complaining about it... thats all. I should have proofread my message from the point of view of the overly sensitive ;) peace to all, to both the intelligent and us the stupid... ernie NP: Farmers Manual - Explorers We, live Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems Fort Worth, Texas

ack sorry. only thing getting shot is my own foot. didn't mean come off as a rant or to imply you were responsible for regularly publishing anti-elist diatribes among the recent discussions of rdj's favorite color of underpants. but there has been a lot of such nonsense piling into my mailbox lately, including a rant about 'people w/ vocabs' or something, which is totally mystifying on idm. stupid as fuck ... -martin
