about rephlex presents bford15 baby ford normal cd this track, "normal", is said to be recorded in 1990 and 1992. was it ever released then? or is this the first release? i remember reading something about a bford album on rephlex, is it a re-release or made of unreleased tracks? oh, and the aphex twin mix interestingly enough sound really old, as if done in 1992, perhaps (but credited as remixed in 1998). while quite good, it's definitely not a stand-out track by rdj standards - he's done loads better than this. hs ______________________________________________________ our future has never been so frightening: http://www.warprecords.com/warp/ography/single/WAP105/

The tracks on the rephlex release were outtakes and remixes from early 90s era baby ford releases. Peter "Baby" Ford has been a prolific & influential producer/label head since 1988. He has released over 15 records including three albums. He has done over a dozen remixes for other artists including Eon, Air Liquide, DJ Hell, S-Express, Mark Broom and Steve O'Sullivan to name a few. He was one of the major forces in vocal disco house back in the late 80s and had quite a bit of commercial success with releases like Oochy Koochy , Chikki Chikki Ahh Ahh, Ford Trax, hildren of the Revolution, Ooo - The World of Baby Ford and Beach Bump. But in 1993 Peter retired his Baby Ford guise and style and began to produce some of the best underground abstract techno around on his own Trelik and Ifach record labels. Some of the many Peter Ford coll- aborators are Mark Broom, Ian "Eon" Loveday, Vulva, Steve "Stasis" Pickton, and Plaid to name just a few.

To answer all your questions about this release here is NikoTzoukmanis's review: Some unreleased versions of old Baby Ford tracks from the BFORD 9 phase and before, the 'Helston Flora Remix' being a crazy Aphex Twin remix of 'Flowers' from the 'Ford Trax' mini-album, with a sampled phonecall from Peter Ford ! Very cool. 'Is it normal' seems to be a new track from Peter Ford, very much in a PAL-SL / Ifach style, but combining his new minimal style with the very 'dry' sounds of 'BFORD9'. A very building, clubby track. The 'Changed Version' is an unreleased 9-minute mix of 'Change', and the two other tracks on the Remix CD are mixes of 'Sashay around the fuzzbox' and 'Blow back', which seem to turn those tracks into real soul songs, especially the 'Sashay mix' leaves away some effects from the album version and adds a vibraphone sound which gives it a very soulful atmosphere. 'Blown back' has vocal samples from 'RU486', and contains more vocals than the BFORD 9 version. De:Bug calls this record 'ingenious', and I agree 100%. A must for every old and new fan, something like the 'Peel sessions album' for the Baby Ford fan...
