my advice would be to invest in a good pair of headphones. it has probably kept me out of many conflicts with family and friends. cl

Wait, you subject your family to Jega and the like? And they don't mind? Wow, my parents were never big on my music when I lived with them (actually, my dad really liked FSOL and Aphex) and now, at school, I can't seem to keep a roomate and my floor hates me! nah... i subject my family to all kinds of stuff and they mostly tolerate if not dig it. who can honestly listen to songs like "beep street" and *not* like them. as far as roommates, i never had any after my freshman year in college, thanfully, and now one of the guys i live with likes a lot of electronic stuff too. so i'm lucky. there are lots of people who hear the stuff that i bring to work and they're just like "what *are* you listening to?" someone has to expose them. alan!

Aaaaaah ! man after my own heart. This is one of my most fave tracks EVER :-) Although I spend a good deal of my life under headphones coz I drive the rest of the household crazy with my incessant music. [aside ::: are we doing an annual poll this year?] I *

As my family was taking a trip into the local mountains here in Albuquerque (NM) I was playing a tape I had recorded Skampler on. When this track came on one of my uncles said he reconized those zany sound effects as being sounds that were taken from the Adam's Family. I'm not sure myself.. does anyone else know anything about this? Or was it the Munster's.. that cheap Adam's Family rip off.. I don't remember which exactly. -allen

My Brother goes absolutely insane whenever I put any kind of electronic music on, he hates it.. but mostly probably just because it's what i listen to. My dad is into some of it,.. he had me record a tape for him of old aphex caustic window tracks and whatnot. But it's like pretty much the same for me.. my family (with the exception of my dad on occasion) tolerates it more than digs it. -allen

My great-grandfather used to listen to Autechre non-stop. He had one of those Cadillacs with the motorized shocks, and would cruise around with the windows down, the entire car bouncing up and down, picking up babes on the Strip. All that distortion, and he couldn't care less about the eq, so he'd go through a set of speakers nearly every month. People would turn around and say: "What?" Well, the whole family was pretty much like that. To rebel, I had to listen to the Monkees. 3

My wife used to be fairly stand-offish when it came to some of the more esoteric/experimental material. Imagine my surprise when she liked Pthalo 2& 3. (you've come a long way, baby!) jeff DzrtMusic@aol.com wrote:
