Just got my copy in the mail today (along with the new Boards of Canada) and want to second (third, fourth?) the recommendations to this very slick, gorgeous release... do yourself a favor, walk into your local headshop, and listen carefully to track 8, "Love is the Drug (paris texas)". That track alone captures the sublime, delicate rhythms and sounds featured all over the album. Still shocked that Matador is licensing product like this.... Even more shocked by the quote on the press release, relating to the artists, Mike Ink and Joerg Burger: "Neither have dated Jerry Hall." Is this some sort of strange Cologne, Germany reference, or am I completely lost?? Aaron

It's definitely his supermodel wife/ex-wife (not sure which) but I'm not quite sure what that has to do with anything.... Matador just takin' a piss, or is there something more disturbing and sinister beneath the surface? Either way, I just wet my pants again over track 8..... whoah.... Aaron

that would be me. yes, jerry hall is mick jagger's wife, but if memory serves, she also, once, dated brian ferry, lead singer of roxy music. burger/ink's _vegas_ includes at least three song titles -- "avalon," "flesh & bleed," "love is the drug" -- that echo roxy song titles. any roxy fans out there who can tell us if there are other references on the album (i.e., anyone recognize any samples?). jeff

I think we're on to something here. "do the strand" and "jealous guy" (not from memphis, just the lennon cover) also are roxy titles. I actually just pulled out a roxy music cd from a long-untouched 70's cd bin, but for the life of me i can't find any samples or other references beside the track titles...

hmmmm... check this out: we had a club here called 42dp that (before it turned all-electronic) was famous for its door policy at the height of the 80's and for not having let brian ferry in once when he played in cologne. maybe he should've brought jerry hall along :-D cheers, tom np: brian ferry/roxy music: street life :-)

No Authority here, but before she was with Mick she was with Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music, who had a bit of a hit with a song also titled "Love is the Drug". jeff laerm wrote:
