Hi! You asked to be (or about how to be) subscribed to one of the mailing lists I maintain (idm, idm-digest, idm-reviews). In order to accomplish this, simply send an email to majordomo@hyperreal.org with the words subscribe idm or subscribe idm-digest or subscribe idm-reviews ...depending upon of course which list you wish to join. Majordomo will then return an email message requesting you authorize your intent to subscribe to the list by simply returning the email with the unique authorization code. This process is necessary as it helps ensure no one is maliciously subscribed to the list without their knowing. If you have any further questions regarding the majordomo software, you may send a "help" message to that same address and a generic helper email will be returned to you. Cheers! Aran -- Aran M. oops :-) anyhow, since I'm playing catch up on admin stuff, more specifically, re-writing my stock explainations to common questions, here's one I give to ppl who ask "hey, why did my IDM mail stop all of a sudden!?!?!" -=- Hi, You recently asked me to address a situation whereby you found yourself suddenly unsubscribed from one of the mailing lists I maintain (idm, idm-digest, idm-reviews). Most often this is due to the fact that your mail server was, for whatever reason, rejecting delivery of list mail. When this occurs, your message is sent back to me, the owner, with a short description of the problem in delivery. At this time, based on this description, if the problem appears to be permanent, the bounced mail is "piped" (|) to a "delete" script which will locate the offending email address and remove it. This removal is attended to as soon as possible as to stem the tide of bouncing emails which clutter up hyperreal's mail server. Some common problems which create these bounces are; mailboxes over quota, this problem most often affects "FREE" email users with strictly enforced quota accounts at aol.com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com, mail excite, etc. If the circumstances surrrounding your list mail bouncing mail back have ceased, you may certainly resubscribe to the lists. i Last, if you should require my assistance in identifying the circumstances surrounding your bouncing mail, please contact me at idm-owner@hyperreal.org, and the next time it happens, I will retain a copy of the bounced email for your analysis.
