The Lyricist Lounge Vol. 1 Presents: Mos Def f/ Q-Tip & Tash - "Body Rock" (Rawkus) Another single with full color cover art from Rawkus. No, this is not a remake of that old Treacherous Three song, it's a dope new song from some highly respected MCs. (Did anyone else with this 12" notice the label fuck-up, or is it me?) The a *and* b-sides of this single start off with Dante 'Mos Def' Bize, Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, and the newcomer Tash. The focus here is placed directly on the MC's and they don't disappoint, "Blind you like Thomas Dolby. Science!!!" Everyone flows off each other with the title sample throw in every once in a while. A2 is the instrumental. B2 is Talib Kweli dropping science over an old-time piano on "Manifesto." Towards the end of the track, Kweli outlines his 10-point manifesto to keep hip-hop real. He views himself as hip-hop's last hope, like Obi-Wan Kenobi. I don't think Old Ben could have busted out with such sharp rhymes, but he *did* come through, and I think Kweli will too. Check Sandbox or http://www.rawkus.com for more info. .jeff / chris. .do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own . you may both be wrong .

Tash, short for Catastrophe, as a member of the Alkaholiks, is not a newcomer. Get your shit correct. clockwise
