I recently picked up Maurizio's s/t album on cd and I was wondering if anyone knew if it is _supposed_ to sound like it was dubbed from a tape? lotsa white noise inna background...especially track one.... thanx in advance...... spaul

All that deep white noise is part of the trademark basic channel/chain reaction/mauritizo/burial mix sound. It gives their tracks a very deep organic feel. Believe it or not it's quite difficult to intentionally add that type of noise to a track and have it sound like random noise. One of the better artists at this type of white noise is Pole. Check his two eps on Kiff and Din.
