I first heard it on an Eddie Jobson (Roxy Music, UK) album in the mid-80's, but I wouldn't be surprised if some clown didn't program it into the RCA Music Synthesizer in the early 60's... Che

this momentum thing is not a new software trick as far as i know.. autechre have been doing that kind of thing for as long as i can remember and it is not hard to enter the drums/static like ... . . . . . . cg == my mummy told me to ask you: _________________________________________________________ DO YOU YAHOO!? it's an easy trick which can be done with a drum machine (at least a roland/boss one) and a computer sequencer. both autechre and aphex twin used fast rolls in earlier tracks, just not to the extent that they do now. "a dream is worth a thousand pictures, the mouths of lampreys a thousand more..."

This has been discussed before (when aphex's bucephalus track came out), but i'll say again, it's even *easier* than this. Just get an SE-70 digital effects processor, any sound you put into it on a certain preset effect does this *exact* bouncing thing... -- Ben Coffer http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

I'm not convinced either of you quite realise the effect I'm trying to describe but it doesn't matter (it's just that the effect as I percveived it has not been used by Ae before with the possible exception of Krib off Cichli Suite with that effect I read people describe as marbles clanging together in your hand but I would equate it more with that noise when you pick up 2 heavy bottomed glasses off the table and they clang against each other with increasing frequency until they're still). But as I say, it really doesn't matter.
