I've just picked up a mighty strange 12"......it's apparently Funkstorung versus Wu-Tang Clan and Westbam on the otherside.... what's going on? Since when have funkstorung and wu-tang clan gone together? weird....i'm totally freaked out....does anyone know anything more about this? just to make sure i'm not dreaming.... -- Ben Coffer http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

ok, the situation is something like this> one of the guys of funkstoerung recently did an internship at BMG Hamburg record company. This label is doing Wu/Tang in Germany (and also licensing West Bam's Low Spirit) records. BMG wanted to boost the new Wu 12" in clubs with some remixes from Germany so they chose one of their interns to do it (not that this was the only reason). As far as I know they tried to get permission from the Clan to use the mixes, never got a response and released them anyway... Heiko PS: what does it sound like?

It sounds like very dark Funkstorung really.....actually, quite a lot like some of the material on Funkentstort....but with dark rapping over the top....pretty good really, and strange how Funkstorung and Wu-Tang go quite well together... -- Ben Coffer http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

It's a promo....i have no idea. It's a tune called "Reunited" i think....with different mixes including Westbam and Funkstorung....quite cool too. The number "B811280-01 A1-MK" is printed into the runout groove.... and likewise on side b it's the same except B1-MK.... I was quite lucky really, i chanced upon it in reckless records in london at the weekend, i wasn't really out to do any record buying that day and i could easily have missed this 12" if i hadn't needed to stay a while longer waiting for my friend to finish browsing the racks.....so, generally, quite lucky really, like when i bought the Mask1 12" in ambient soho the weekend it came out without really knowing what it was at all, other than i'd heard of talk of BoC on the list and wanted to hear what they were like. -- Ben Coffer http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/
