I'm *so* glad to see this mentioned here. I absolutely love Art of the State and since the actual sleeve gives precious little information on who they are, where they come from, year of release, etc. the whole thing is pretty shadowy and, as you say, they just disappeared. I'd really appreciate some more information on them if anybody knows.

No first hand experience here, but I recently read a review in -- ?? (maybe JockeySlut, I think their anniversary edition with the yellow birthday cake on the cover - I'll go and scratch around and post more info if I find it) which rated it pretty highly. Apparently it's various remixes of material off Art, eg. Elone, XI-Beats and another track are given 3 remixes each, as well as another new track, making it 10 tracks all together. So far from what I remember in the article. I * np : Mark Stewart - Digital Justice

Okay all I've scrounged through my mags, and it was *not* Our Common Future that I was referring to in my initial reply to this mail - I re-found the review in URB Vol 8 NO. 57 for "Phase 1" which is the one containing remixes of Mothmath, X-Beats & Elone (which come off Art of the State) and a new track "Swarm" - and the review ends with the words "This work is only the first phase, with encores being mandatory by definition". Sounds like a goodie to me. Does this precede Our Common Future? This magazine in dated Jan/Feb 98, so it's pretty recent. I * np : Traffic : John Barleycorn Must Die
