Re: Chris Miller's post from 09.14.99 I'm probably way behind on this, need to catch up on about 4 digests. I highly recommend the Kid 606 vs Chris Coady on Underscore's latest 7". Many of the same, "distorto-idm" (as Chris Miller described it), that will definitely satisfy your brain all the way through. I'll be posting more information on this, as well as the Cex vs Colongib 7" also put out by Underscore (unless someone already mentioned it..) Oh, and these two slabs of vinyl are tucked in a superbly designed package by Jason Mc Collum (Designstorung). Check out the Underscore website for yourself! http://multsanta.home.sprynet.com/underscore/ Pietro. _____________________________________ Pietro Da Sacco, m b m @ n e t c o r e . c a ::: Grooves Magazine 002 ::: ::: Experimental Electronica in Words ::: http://www.rain.org/~audio/grooves/ ::: Insound.com Zinestand ::: http://www.insound.com/zinestand/grooves/

I've never actually heard anyone describe kid606's music as 'clever'. 200 bpm distorted amens intercut with a hardcore 4 on the floor beat, overlaid with plugo/max/hyperprism wankery doesn't exactly grab me as 'clever'. But then again, maybe his new stuff IS smart as I can't be fucked to pick any of it up. Kid 606 doesn't always record in the same style as described below. For example, his split 7" on V/Vm with Tigerboy is a "version" on a track from NWA, while his forthcoming "soccergirl" ep on new york's carpark is mostly ambient. Neither releases are remotely close to the 200bpm example described below. Andrew Duke Brock Suter wrote:
