Me too. I'm just finishing off my Breakbeat Era site thing dedicated to Bristol based drum and bass and after that I'm gonna get back into making music, and I'm planning a demos site with MP3s of me and a friends music on it. I've been digging around for MP3 encoding software, but I'm skint and need something for FREE! If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it. Take a look at www.mp3.com for lots of mp3 info. I know that Fraunhofer's L3enc will encode without being registered, but only at 3 bitrates. If you don't mind the illegality you can probably find a serial number without too much effort. colin ps. I'm new around here. so you want a free MP3 encoder? i just found one, and i used it to encode a treat you'll find below. first, get http://hem.passagen.se/ceel/l3enc.zip and unzip it. (only 49K !) then get http://www.modindata.se/cwenc12.zip and unzip it. (only 312K !) the former is the dos-based encoder, while the latter is a simple windows 95 interface which employs the encoder. after unzipping the cwenc12.zip file, run cwenc12.exe. help the program locate l3enc.zip and you'll be encoding in a matter of seconds, assuming you have some .wav files stored on your hard drive, as i did. the file i had on hand is from carpet bomb 002, and it took up 40.6 megs in .wav format. the MP3 file is only 3.68 megs, and it sounds damn good. to get it, visit http://www.microlink.net/~mlee/unagi.html right click on the song title, and select "save link as." enjoy ! matt
