Speaking of MoM, I recall hearing that they're going to be opening for Stereolab in Chicago next month. Is there any further word on whether this is just a one-off, or are the two going to be touring together? Does anyone have a list of Stereolab tour dates? -d.w. on last: Oval - Systemisch

It's a tour; Stereolab and Mouse on Mars and High Llamas (who?) are at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on November 26th. In a similar vein, Spring Heel Jack (the Dn'B edition, not the Ska edition) are playing with Spiritualized and Acetone (who?) at The Palace in Hollywood on November 12th. I really hate this trend of Techno artists playing with Indie bands at conventional non-rave venues. I can't say enough good things about Sean's recent Freq lp. Deep, smooth, melodic & wonderful detroit techno. This lp will be in my top 5 for 97. -->-Lance--- p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states

Interesting : please explain. Are they one and the same band, who sometimes do different style gigs? What's their new album like - (something, something and Thirsty) - which direction to they explore?

They never *really* were - although Dots & Loops is mental candyfloss.

What's this then??? Kill the guitar? If it's not pure electronica, we don't want it? Or is that an upside down happy/sad smiley...

Very noisy distorted drum'n bass with layers of dense feedback and machine hum..... much less melody than their previous 68 million shades.... err, I really like the track called "Baby." It's very aggressive with samples of a happy baby gaggling.... I played it for my friend.... her reaction was, "I hate babies." O'well. Aaron np: lords of acid "our little secret"

I used to like guitars and bass guitars, whan I was 5-6. My father played me his records (Talking Heads, Bowie, Lene Lovich, Roxy Music, Elvis Costelo, Stranglers, and many many others of which I can't think of.....) I don't hate guitars. I like all sounds, I even like sound more than I like music. But I must addmit that I am really tired of guitar music, maybe that's my childlish rebel to my father who listened guitar music a lot....And as a kid I just want to be different than my father, so I often say things like this : GUITAR IS THE WORST THAT WAS HAPPENED TO MUSIC GUITAR, VOCALS AND ROCK KILLED MUSIC

My neighbor woke me yesterday at 3:50AM. I was in the middle of listening to 303 loop that I play all night long.....and it reflect on my dreams. I play music or sounds all night every day....it annoys me sometimes but I always do this |++| | ~ | \ /

Nothing at all. Except : I'm an adult (uh-huh) and I have 2 children. They (like your neighbour's dog) also wake me early in the morning ... Maybe you'll find out one day :-) I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre

I think the ska band is actually "Spring Heeled Jack". ^^^^^^ I remember seeing a listing at a local club thinking it was the d'n'b band but noticed the difference in spelling just after. Ross ;-)
