PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE! Posted this about 2 weeks ago. ---------------------- Review / Autechre / Cichlisuite / 12" / 3 Tracks / Warp Records (WAP96RPA) / Release date ? I suppose Warp is - in major-label fashion - charging double the price for this one as well as Anvil and Envane and putting it on two 12"s, however, I've only got (what I suppose is) part 1 of the set. Three tracker, Long A-side (Characi) which sounds like a R2 unit on SLOOOW speed with (boring) repetetive melodies and nothing even close to the complex layers on other Autechre relases (Key Nell, The Sound of Machines, Envane etc.. List can go on forever). I never thought I'd say this about anything from B&B, but this isn't really much fun. This is boring. B-Side (Krib, Tilapia) continues in the same manner. They've done it all before, and either they ran out of inspiration or they lost the sampling-mic somewhere on the road, because 'tis all bleepy sounds with wet techstarish drums all a'la the Autechre recipe. On Krib things get a little bit more interesting, but they should probably wait longer between the releases (I don't even want to hear the new Sqrpshr), I dunno, but I'm really disappointed. Chiastic Slide and Envane was KILLER, this is nothing new. It's not really bad, just old (meaning: it will sell very well). Take over from here Jega. Too beige for me really. i'm new to the list so i didn't catch this when it was posted originally, but i have to say i disagree.i just listened to it again[cd version with yeesland and pencha on it]first time i played it i wsn't too sure, but now i love.it definitely repays repeated listening.

it doesn't sound to me like they're repeating themselves, krib in particular isn't like anything they've done before. -drew np:sqaurepusher-big loada [hmm...not sure yet.1st track's a gem tho]
