in re the whining and counterwhining over pricing/selling/buying and markup:
Thanks to Adam J Weitzman <weitzman@individual.com
Without excessive quoting you managed to express an old one sentence standby:
**********The market dictates what the market can bear.*****************
If some fucking fool wants to pay what some other fucking fool offers, SO BE IT.
This isn't greed. Its reciprocal ridiculouslessness.
I once sold about 2,500 dollars worth of very collectible industrial
records to a collector
for 400 dollars *and* I took him out to dinner.
I liked the guy and thought he realy loved the music. So I did my good deed.
Years ago ( maybe I've told this before ) I was selling off my collection
of old punk singles.
I got a call from a dude ( 15 years old punk rocker with *this* kind of
cash? ) who gave me a lot of
attitude over the phone about how he would outbid everyone over one of my
old Misfits 45s.
So I called his bluff and said: OK, jack prove it.
He drove 250 miles and gave me 400 dollars for it!!!!!!!
Did I feel guilty? Hell fucking no.
Was he ridiculous to pay this? Well, yes and no.
But the fact is he paid it and I did'nt even set a bid price. His 400 came
as a complete suprise
and he insisted on paying it.
Uh, OK.
Hey punk dude, ould'nt you buy a guitar for that?
**********The market dictates what the market can bear.*****************
P.S. I paid 5 bucks for a Joyrex which I bought from a friend ome time ago.
Should any INSANE person want to offer me, say 100,000 dollars for it,
please don't
call me greedy as I RUN to the post office to mail it to 'ya COD.
Its capitalism, folks
