In the new issue of Grooves both Mike Paradinas and Andrea Parker mention the latest album by an artist named (Dave) Tipper as being one of their recent favorites. This sparked my curiousity so I did a search for this artist and it turns out he records for the same label as Grooverider, but his bio (written by David Toop !) manages to reference Russollo/Futurism and La Monte Young as well as LFO and Kraftwerk, etc.. His work has also been remixed by Andre Estermann, Plaid and Andrea Parker among others. And his albums feature (somewhat uncharacteristic) Designers Republic artwork. I was wondering if anyone familiar with this guy's work can share some opinions ? He sounds promising, but I'm wary since he records for a major label and all. http://www.tipper.co.uk/ Andrei --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

He had some singles on Fuel a few years ago, that really didn't do much for me. The most recent one I thought was really cool, for some reason i think it was called "Led". I almost bought it several times, that is the single with the Andrea Parker and Plaid remixes. Definitely worth a listen! I should have bought it, but it came out at a time when there was loads of stuff coming out. Thanks for reminding me, I might go pick it up. Cheers --- Drusca <andrei@world.std.com> wrote:

Andre Estermann also did a Tipper remix last year. The track he remixed was called Superspots (sp) but I dont know if it ever was officially released. Andre also did an amazing remix of Bjork's All Is Full of Love but, sadly, I dont think that one has been officially released either. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It looks like it's on the 12"/CD single, but I didn't find what I heard from the real audio sample of it very good. It sounded like some sort of industrial drum'n'bass. Thanks to those who replied to my inquiry, but I checked out all the real audio samples on the Tipper site and imo his stuff mostly sounds like really polished, non-descript, sometimes electroish pop electronica with generic, melancholy female vocals. And yeah, his stuff does resemble Andrea Parker's work. The only track that I found somewhat interesting was the last track on the "Led Down" 12", a sort of synth/dsp freak out. Dissapointing. I didn't really care for any of Tipper's earlier releases on Fuel. His last single "led" (I think) was really nice. That is the one that Plaid and Andrea Parker remixed. I thought it was very good. I've come really close to buying several times. Definitely worth checking out. I haven't seen anything since that single, but I would presume that he would have an LP out (or coming out) on Higher Ground. Cheers --- Drusca <andrei@world.std.com> wrote:
