Hi, just finding some time to give a short review of the (newer) records I bought during my holiday in London (most at Fatcat, some at Sister Ray and Ambient Soho).. Some of the records aren't that new, but what the fuck. Here we go: # Alter Ego - Nude Restaurant - Harthouse (HH052) '94 # Nuron/Fugue - Various - Likemind (LM-02) '94 # Tura/Nuron/Redcell/Stasis - Likethemes - Likemind (LM-03) # Millsart - Humana - Axis (AX-12) # Too Loco for Techno - Fighting Knives - Hard Sync (HS002) # The Octagon Man - Biting the dragon's tail - Electron (Tron 1) # In Sync vs. Mysteron - These four walls - Tenth Planet (TPP 002) # Paul W. Teebrooke - Thing 1 - Otherworld Recordings (OW-002) # The Inquistion Chapter - Inquistion Chapter 2 - Radio Active Lamb (RAL012) # Esoterik/Blue Binary/Redcell - Various - ART/B12 - (ART 7.1/B1214.1) # Elegy/Esoterik/Redcell - Various - ART/B12 - (ART 7.2/B1214.2) # Depth Charge - Legend of the golden snake (10") - DC Recordings (10DC01) # Sean Booth/Rob Brown/A. Maddocks - Gescom E.P. - SKAM - (SKA03) # Alter Ego - Nude Restaurant - Harthouse (HH052) '94 Why this one? Well, it contains two remixes of 'Nude Restaurant', but (there it is!) the track 'Tanks ahead' (bitten by Black Dog) and this really is Black Dog at its top! Those melodies, those rhythms, absolutely fabulous... # Nuron/Fugue - Various - Likemind (LM-02) '94 Since the 'breakthru' of the better known artists like B12, Global C. and Black Dog (including al their monickers) in 1992 a lot of artists and labels are coming up, on which the above mentioned artists seem to have a big influence. One of the labels is Likemind, after the first record (with Stasis and Nuron) this one comes next. Four typical listen-to techno tracks, with all smooth strings and rhythms. Nuron wins this one, Check out 'In motion'! # Tura/Nuron/Redcell/Stasis - Likethemes - Likemind (LM-03) On this one, the newer talents go together with Tura aka Plaid aka (two of three of) ex-Black Dog and Redcell aka B12. And the Tura-track is really one of the most beautiful track I've ever heard, it's Plaid is space, real funky almost basic-electro, but together with the typical jumpy Black Dog sounds as on 'Spanners', and the strings as on Balil's "Whirling of the Spirits". The other tracks are real cool too, Nuron quality really improves, with a laidback technogroove, Redcell (later on more) delivers a beautiful pure techno-track and Stasis makes your foot step from left to right. People, watch for Likemind in the future! This one really makes your soul dance.. # Millsart - Humana - Axis (AX-12) From Detroit comes this twelfth Axis record. Besides one pumping track (and also a locker), it contains a ambient-techno track, a techno-ambient track and a trippy (real strange) ambient track. Espessially this last one is a good listen worth.. The whole record seems like a strange electro techno dream.. beautiful! # Too Loco for Techno - Fighting Knives - Hard Sync (HS002) Don't where this is coming from (Germany/England?) but it has some nice techno-tunes on it. 'Fighting Knives' and 'Banned from the mall' are the tracks to go for.. 'Banned from the mall' is a psychedelic techno track, while 'Fighting Knives' really makes move your feet, with those rolling 909 drum-tracks (space!).. # The Octagon Man - Biting the dragon's tail - Electron (Tron 1) It's Jonathan Kane (check out Trance Europe Express Vol.4) making three deep psychedelic dub-electro (or something in that way) tracks on this first Electron 12". If you want something experimental, try this one! (more later on as Depth Charge).. Gee, go for this one! (also :) # In Sync vs. Mysteron - These four walls - Tenth Planet (TPP 002) Lee (In Sync) seems to keep the better stuff for his own label. This third 12" together with Mysteron (after the first on Tenth Planet and one on Peacefrog) really rocks the spot like the first one on this label. Four deep, abstract techno as In Sync knows to program a 909 as know other (already bought 'Storm' on Irdial?). 'These four walls' is a dark-sounding pumping technotrack, 'New Born Obie' is a (bit too) fast track, 'Nuclear Warheads' is a quiet track and 'One sixty four' finally has the strings as you want them to hear in a (really) dark room.. # Paul W. Teebrooke - Thing 1 - Otherworld Recordings (OW-002) This label seems to have much in common with Likemind. Paul W. Teebrooke produced one of the four tracks on the first Otherworld 12". This time he has the whole vinyl for himself. Thing 1 is a good danceable track, which changes on half of the track in a real swinging breakbeating thing (even making you dance more). 121346 on the other side is a experimental beautiful stringy track, while Thing 2 (part 1) is really beautiful ambient-techno track to dance to all those boomed snares.. # The Inquistion Chapter - Inquistion Chapter 2 - Radio Active Lamb (RAL012) This one has two bouncing really fun synthesizer madness and two beautiful ambient tracks. The 2 techno tracks remind me of the older techno tracks done by May and more Reese and Santonio. Don't know exactly why, but they have the strange synthesizer tracks in common. The ambient tracks really hits your soul (as not all ambient does..). # Esoterik/Blue Binary/Redcell - Various - ART/B12 - (ART 7.1/B1214.1) # Elegy/Esoterik/Redcell - Various - ART/B12 - (ART 7.2/B1214.2) Maybe these are the ones you've all be waiting for, if you don't prefer vinyl, wait for the CD to come with four tracks more.. I start with the first one (but to begin, overall these are made really 'to sit down and listen!'), Esoterik counts in a minimal technotrack, while the other three tracks on the first 12" are getting close to ambient. Elegy produced a nice bumping technotrack (check the strings!) while the Esoterik is a experimental 'too difficult to dance to' track. Redcell aka B12 on the other side adds a ambient-techno and a techno track to this whole package technodreams... # Depth Charge - Legend of the golden snake (10") - DC Recordings (10DC01) Depth Carge is J. Saul Kane as mentioned above (The Octagon Man). As Depth Charge he is a really ambient-hiphop maker at top. On the b-side the is a (better) version of "Sex, Sluts and Heaven" (also on TEEX4), while the a-side of this 10" provides a great mysterious breakbeat track.. (seems like Jah Wobble is controlling the bassline). (also check the cover for my girlfriend)... # Sean Booth/Rob Brown/A. Maddocks - Gescom E.P. - SKAM - (SKA03) Two tracks on this one, breakbeat hip hop style tracks, more sounding like Ninja Tune or Mo Wax as they sound like 'the Warp Autechre', it seems (as someone mentioned before) they have developed from techno/electro (the great Incunabula album) via ambient (Amber/Garbage) towards these kinds of things, well I can have a lot more! ¤ Forcefield Nostalgia ¤¤ Forcefield Nostalgia ¤¤ Forcefield Nostalgia ¤ ¤ Forcefield ¤ - http://wwwedu.cs.utwente.nl/~wielen/forcefield/

i also have one insync vs. mysteron by french shield records!(cat no. 03) what a shame but that record is absolutely (errm) crap.. yes, monotone trance tracks that don't go nowhere.. i really did fall in love with their record on Peacefrog! (that came out at the same time as neil landstrum's 'index man ep' that everybody knows..) especially that electrotrack was very important for me! shield 02 (e-dancer - feel the mood) and 03 (as one - relentless) are both i.m.o. worth buying! is shield 05 out yet? if i remember right it should be an lp by as one??? btw. i did miss tony drake's 'textures' on new electronica/transmat. is that worth of buing? there were many kinds of rumours before the record came out. peace out! antti np: logic systems - logic lp
