A good 60% of it is that spacey lounge jazz shtick that the gentle people are notorious for on their two eps, and the remaining sort of blends between light jazz, and smooth electronics. There's one track that still leaves me breathless..... sorta in the ol' Jedi Knights/Reload frame of mind..... smooth jazzy electronics with a lot of layered melody and bassy rhythm. The track is one of the highlights from the disc. My only gripe is that most of the singles have been included on this disc as well.... no remixes, just the original work from "journey" and "Emotion Heater" (tiki remix included).... it's all mushed nicely together, and works as an album. But I was spinning the singles for a long time, and isn't as fresh as it used to be. No worries though, it's a fab album. onnow: kraftwelt Lame Thread Prevention in Effect: Aaron Michelson --------------------------------------------------------------------- aw-teck'r (autechre) "Everything you Know is Wrong" For reviews, interviews, art & trash http://www.on-it.net/~aaron/ aaron@defiant.on-it.net

Speaking of which, there is a two page spread on them in the new Mixmag. They say Soundtracks for living is the album of the month! whoa. BTW, guess what else is in Mixmag? A profile of Jean Jacques Perry. It even says that he's collaborating on new material with Air, of modular mix and cassanova 70 fame. Fuck yes. -Gonzi.

There is a small review of "Soundtrack" and some sound files at this URL: I found this site on accident, and it's pretty cool. http://www.chaoskitty.com/t_chaos/gentlepeep.html

I listened to this at my record shop and thought it was utterly vile. I think the part that was really bad was that this came out on Rephlex. Rephlex makes me think "kick-ass techno, kick-ass techno, etc. etc." When I put this albumn on, I pulled back in revulsion and haven't given it a second chance. Then don't even think of buying the remixed tracks which Bochum Welt and Cylob did for The Gentle People. It sickens me to think that you would go straight out and buy the latest Rephlex release but turn around and say that 'Soundtracks...' sucked. Personally... I had no hesitation when buying this.
