if an item listed as import is out domestic and our price does not reflect this it is because we have been putting all our efforts into keeping the site updated with the newest items. You are right, we have overlooked this in our site updating process. These prices should be changed to the significantly lower domestic price. That lower price is marked on the merchandise which comes directly from the store--we never sell imports at the import price when domestic is available even when we paid import price for it from distrib. Our buyer spends hours finding competitive prices from different distributors and in the store it is rare that we hear that any other independent store has prices significantly different. As was the case when I looked at ear rational, we have items for .50 or $1.00 cheaper and they had some things in that range less than we did as well. It all depends on which distributor it comes from. Apparently Virgin Megastore in Time Square has the Daft Punk for $18.00--each cd has its own seat on a Virgin flight. Ultra is working to offer a killer selection of whats new at competitive prices in a cool environment. we don't want to charge more or think that we should because our site is more extensive or because we offer lovely personalized service as well as the technological ease/potential anonymity of the automatic ordering feature. I think its cool that there are different people doing online 'stores' in their own distinct ways. I just feel it is untrue to represent Ultra as across the board more expensive when we are not. we will make a special effort to correct those price discrepancies with the import/domestic items, sometimes criticism helps us out. has anyone else heard the antiphony ash comp? pretty cool. will post next week.
