With all this slagging of Urmur Bile Trax... I feel it necessary to jump up
in defence for the few tracks that are actually really quite cool. For
instance, 'Let Let' from volume 1 is one damned fine piece of work. Very
smooth, quirky... jazzy.... slick, yet hardly over-produced. Sure it still
sounds like video game music (like most of paradinas's tracks) but has a
lot more energy than his more recent bland efforts. Overall, I felt that
volume 2 was the better of the two, with 1 Hip 007*, Hornet, and The Phonic
Sox taking the cake for quirky d'n b sequencing. After all, I live for this
kinda lively goofiness.
What I regret is that months from now, I'll have lost interest in Urmur
Bile Trax.... as there it just ain't durable against the likes of
Squarepusher, Plug and... well... I still get a stitch in my heart
everytime i hear the Jedi Knights.
Maybe Paradinas desires to be the Pete Namlook of drum'n bass?
I've reserved a space for Urmur Bile Trax right next to Aphex Twin's
Richard D. James album. Keeps the dust from spreading.
