leaf is an experimental music label. they don't just put out jungle
(although their first year in business was dominated by it). i don't agree
with you that "invisible soundtracks 2" is crap, tho. nor do i see how you
could possibly describe it as "silly" (what, the piano lick on the ronnie
and clyde track too happy for ya'?). personally, i think the richard
thomas, seymore/van hoen, and bedouin ascent tracks are all quite good
(although the last doesn't quite measure up to other recent ba
material...), particularly richard thomas' "pendulum" (a stunning bit of
ambient electro similar to a more minimal b12 or atom heart). but then, i'm
a bit of an ambient/experimental electronic freak, so that probably fits.
for the record, "invisible soundtracks 1" has tracks by being, gescom,
zurich, and disjecta, but i consider it the weakest leaf release yet
(although it's not really "bad" in any sense). for more fucked up jungle
ala witchman and luger, look into jon tye's twisted science double-ep
(although, again, it ain't just jungle) as well as tye's slack dog side
project with kingsuk biswas and luke vibert (they have a 12" on tye's lo
recordings and a 7" on flowershop).
